More Work

Here are a couple of new works.  I can do these pretty quickly because the canvases are small and it relates to my class in that you are supposed to put down some paint and leave it there. The blue jar is actually a lot smaller.  I like the yellow jug.

This is a 12 x 12 panel that has at least two other things under it.  I have been recycling canvases by wiping the paint off when I get home if I am not happy with it.

Same thing here.  It is a 8 x 10 canvas,  I am trying to get some small works ready for the craft show in May.  Last year I sold some stuff so I hope to again.

Working in the Studio

I am at work trying to practice what I am trying to learn in my painting class.  There are two more classes to go but I may have to miss the final one.  I did much better today than in the past but I think I will rub it out even though there are parts I like.  No. I am not showing it.

Here are some more successful efforts I did at home.  They are 6 x 6 and the larger one is 8 x 10:

I couldn't leave this one alone and I changed the color of the background

I left this one as is.

This is a copy of a cover of a magazine that I liked.  It came out pretty good.

Don't forget that tomorrow is the last day to leave a comment and I will send you one of my original cards.

New Work

I have been busy painting, inspired by the class I have been taking.  Here is my latest Buddha.

I like the drawing but my husband is not crazy about the colors.  I kind of like the colors and I may over rule his point.  I may change the color of the blue along the side to something else.  Red/orange??

100th Post

I have reached the milestone of 100 posts!  It took longer than I had intended, but I did it after all.  To celebrate this milestone, I will send one of my Buddha greeting cards to any one who posts a comment by Feb. 29.  I am looking forward to hearing from you.

I just wanted to finish up with some more examples of my hidden pictures:

This one is of animals instead of people.  I thought it was interesting.

I colorized this one with some watercolors.  I call it The Break Up.  I'm not sure if it goes together because the two figures don't seem to be in the same style.

More Black and White

Here are the final two pieces submitted for the Black, White and Shades of Gray show.

This is a 4 x 5 encaustic piece with a xerox transfer.  It is a miniature version of a larger one that has been a prize winner in a couple of juried shows.  I recently sold its twin a couple of weeks ago.

This is nine 6 x 6 panels of a gray scale done in oil.  The original plan was to have ten panels lined up in a row but I couldn't get a decent picture of it so I discarded one panel and set up the rest like this.  I think I like it better.

Some More New Work

Here are a couple of new works that I entered for the South Shore Art Center's Black, White and Shades of Gray show.  They do this theme about every other year and I was inspired more than usual.  I entered five pieces in all and I even managed to put my work on a disc.  I realize that my chances of getting in are slim to none, but I wanted to give it a shot.

I really like him - he looks like a young Buddha

I think she is interesting but it only matters to the judge.  I also entered the Princess from the previous post and two more which I will show another day.  I won't know for about 3 weeks if anyone likes these.  I was thinking about teaching the technique which is rather fun and easy.  I just have to get more confident about it and I wonder if anyone would be even interested.

Some New Images

Yes, I am still in my winter funk but I  am trying to pull out of it.  The winter here has been great - no snow and the temps have felt like an early spring.  So what excuse am I using now?  Shame on me.

I am taking an art class from a local artist whose work and style I like but the problem is I don't seem to be getting in the class work.  I do much better when I get home and try again.  Anyway, the point is that this class is getting me back to painting.  We are working in oils so I erase everything when I get home and I get to start again the next week.

Anyway, here are some of my better endeavors, not oils:
