Here is the result of my latest effort. I was making this for an artist friend to trade for one of his pen and inks. I kind of stumbled onto a technique that I would like to try again on a piece that I am not very happy with. I loosely painted over an original effort and liked the layers of color. I may take this to scan and reproduce before I give it away.

Hello Old Friend
I was on my way to work yesterday when I spied an old friend. It is the biggest snapping turtle I have ever seen. Its shell is over a foot long and it was wandering on our front lawn going who knows where. I did not see it last year so I am glad to see it made it thru another year. I didn't take a picture because I was running a little late and I thought I already had a picture but I can't find it. But here is a picture of a much smaller and a lot better looking cousin that we find on our lawn from time to time. Perhaps I should mention that we have a part time pond in out back yard.

Last Night
I went to two art openings last night where I had something hanging in each. At the second opening I had won a third place in the crafts category for a framed Paris collage on which I had a selling price of $400. I was told that someone wanted to buy it for $300 and how did I feel about that? I said no, the price is the price, keeping in mind that there would be a 40% commission.
Later I thought I could have asked for a 30% commission and that way everyone would win but deep down I did not want that person to know that he could call the shots. It was the principal of the thing.
What would you have done?

My Latest Project
Here is what I have been working on lately. I decided to take the plunge and make giclees and cards so I thought this would be a good place to start. I was further encouraged by an artist friend I happened to run into at the dump today.
Speaking of the dump. I took home 27 old Nancy Drew books, about half were blue ones and some even had their paper covers. I remember discarding similar ones many years ago.
You jusat can't get rid of anything.

Field Trip
Went on a little field trip to Boston the other day. We walked thru the commons where they are doing a lot of digging. Here are some pictures of the swan boats and the Public Gardens. I don't understand why any one wants to ride the swan boats around a mucky pond that goes no where.

A Little Something
This is an encaustic piece that I started about a year ago in a workshop and it has just been lying around. After further messing around with it, I have finally declared that it must be done. I am not sure how I feel about it and I am debating about whether or not to invest in a frame which would surely help it out.
