Back to the Drawing Board

So here's what happened when I "fixed" my larger project.  Not too happy because I think that there is too much going on.

I am off to Virginia for a few days for Art and Soul.  I hope to come back with some fabulous art.

Day #2

Here is day two of my project.  I put a watered down gesso wash over the whole thing and drew some random lines with charcoal.  I used plenty of acrylic paints and I am generally happy with the direction it is going.  We'll see what the class thinks and then I'll go from there.

Project #4

Here is the start of Project #4 for my class.  It is a 24 x 36 canvas and I wanted it to be more of the mixed media that I do.  I put a blue wash on first since I had some left over paint and then I glued some dress pattern pieces, pages from a book and some textured wall paper in the upper left hand corner.  Lastly I smeared some Golden's crackle paste for additional texture and left it to dry over night.

Monday

Here is project #3 for my Wednesday class.  I will present to the class and see what they say.  I think it is done but I may add something to it.  I made it as a color study.

Monday

I have been working on my final projects and I am relatively happy with this one:

 and I wasn't happy until I turned it this way 

   

Better I think but I am not sure if I am done.

I need to get back to work on my other one.  It looks a little too primary colored now but we'll see how it goes tonight.

Last Night

Last night I went to the chi chi country club for an art fundraiser and I had a very nice time.  The food was good and I was greeted at the security gate by a well dressed young man who directed me where to go.

I was pleased to see that my Modigliani got an early bid and that there were three other  bids on it.  It went for the princely sum of $130.  What a bargain.  I was quickly outbid for some art I liked so I went home empty handed in that department.  However, I did buy a raffle ticket to win some diamond earrings and I came home with some cubic zirconia.  I am still a winner.

Spring at Last (?)

Dare I say it is spring?  You wouldn't know it a couple of days ago when we got more snow.  Fortunately it was mostly on the grass and it melted on the on the road surfaces the next day.  Today is 50 ish and that is enough for some people to wear shorts and sandals.  Give it a few more degrees, people!

I am working on my final projects and I have two pieces in the almost done phase.  I need a better yellow and some more canvases which are 60% off at Michael's tomorrow.

Tonight I am going to a ritzy country club (free ticket) and I will see who if any one will buy my Modigliani.  Lots of nice things to choose from and I hope to come home with a bargain.
